TBT is an annual, high-stakes, single-elimination basketball competition founded in 2014. Open to teams worldwide, TBT offers a winner-takes-all prize of $1 million.
TBT features 64 teams competing in a single-elimination format similar to the NCAA's March Madness. The tournament is divided into eight regional brackets, each hosted in different cities across the United States. Teams must win their regional bracket to advance to the championship rounds.
A unique aspect of TBT is the Elam Ending. Under this format, the game clock is turned off at the first dead-ball whistle with four minutes or less remaining. A target score is set by adding eight points to the leading team's score, and the first team to reach this target wins. This keeps 4th quarters interesting by eliminating late-game fouls and ensuring that every game concludes on a made basket. The Elam Ending has been praised for enhancing end-of-game excitement and has been adopted in other basketball events, including the NBA All-Star Game.
TBT is renowned for its talented pool of participants, including former NBA players, overseas professionals, and standout college alumni teams. Notable alumni teams have represented universities such as Syracuse, Ohio State, and Marquette. The open-invitation nature of the tournament makes each year's competition unique and unpredictable. Recent tournaments have included talent such as NBA 6th Man of the Year Montrezl Harrel, two-time NBA All Defensive Team Eric Bledsoe, and two-time NBA Champion Mario Chalmers
